A small selection of projects w've worked on

We don't want to overwhelm you, so here are some of our favourites...

Use the arrows to flick through our portfolio.

All of these projects are the result of extended relationships between our clients and us. It's important to us to build up a high level of understanding, so that we can provide clients with precisely what they need, instead of some slapdash makeshift pseudo-solution.

In some cases, these relationships are ongoing, as we continue to maintain and assist with the day to day running of these sites.

In other cases, the entire process lasted a matter of weeks.

If you recognise your requirements in any of these examples, or if you think it would make sense for us to work together, why not get in touch?

Aspect

www.aspect.org.uk

Aspect (The Association of Professionals in Education and Children’s Trusts) first approached us because they were dissatisfied with their existing site. They had no real control over it, no content management system. We began by examining their old site, and met several times to discuss their ideas. Then we worked with them to design a new site, and gave them a customised version of our Isness CMS.

Two years later, the union changed its name and went through a major rebranding. We worked with them again to update the design and layout of the site.

Since then, we’ve added an intranet with forums for union members, blogs for two groups with the union, the ability to join the union online, and many other extra details.

Our relationship with Aspect is ongoing and productive – we are, in effect, their web department.

Worksmart

www.worksmart.org.uk

Worksmart, from the TUC, is a site that helps people get the best out of work. We’ve been developing, maintaining and extending the site since it’s inception in 2002.

At the site’s core is a set of FAQs about all aspects of work. These FAQs are backed up by a customised Isness CMS, so that TUC editors can add and edit entries as required.

Additional channels include the Unionfinder, which enables users to find the right union, and Your Company, which presents information on every single registered limited company, retrieved directly from Companies House via their API, plus on-the-fly graphs and other infographics based on information from the Worksmart database.

The site also runs regular campaigns, such as Work You Proper Hours Day, involving interactive questionnaires, video and mailing lists.

TUC 60 Second Ad Contest

www.tuc60seconds.org.uk

The TUC 60 Second Ad Contest is an annual contest, open to anyone, to create an advert for joining unions.

We were hired to work on the site at very short notice, so that the entire process of analysis, consultation, design and development took place in a matter of weeks.

The site runs on WordPress, and makes extended use of YouTube APIs to retrieve and play videos, as well as custom programming to allow users to vote for each of the entries.

My Union Facebook Application

www.my-union.org

A simple Facebook application, developed for the TUC, that allows users to display a union badge on their profile page.

The system runs on a custom built CMS which enables the adding and editing of union details. It even enables the addition of new countries, so that users from around the world can display their union membership.

Berlin Kids International

berlin-kids-international.de

Berlin Kids International e.V. is a German organisation providing nursery and primary education to bilingual families in Eastern Berlin.

Run by parents and on a very limited budget, they needed an affordable website that could easily manage English and German versions of all content, enrollment forms and management interfaces. They also required a virtual ticketing system to keep track of the members’ work contributions.

The site was built around a core Drupal installation, using existing drupal modules where possible (including extensive use of Views & CCK) and also developing smaller helper modules to deal efficiently with the particular requirements of the ticketing system.
